World Music Day

World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique, is an annual global celebration held on June 21 to honor the universal language of music. Originating in France in 1982 under the initiative of Jack Lang and Maurice Fleuret, the event transforms public spaces into free stages for both professional and amateur musicians.

The day is characterized by "the music everywhere and the concert nowhere," encouraging spontaneous performances in parks, streets, and neighborhoods across over 120 countries. Celebrations typically feature diverse genres ranging from classical and jazz to rock and folk, fostering community connection and cultural exchange through the shared joy of making and listening to music.
